Palo Alto has 1,600 acres of prime deer hunting land located in Ascension and Iberville parishes. The property is arranged between the majestic Mississippi River and historic Bayou Lafourche. The terrain offers both open range and hard woods. In addition to excellent wildlife, the property is masterfully equipped with numerous food plots and pipelines, which are maintained year round. There are over thirty stands located throughout the property. Bow stands are strategically located to provide close range shots for the primitive weapon enthusiast. All of our rifle stands are enclosed and include a gun rest and skirting to make for a comfortable hunt. Our duck hunting is nothing like duck hunts in the marshes of south Louisiana and we are proud of it.  Enjoy high quality, wild waterfowl hunts in comfortable blinds that are located only minutes away from the lodge.  Swamps and marshes surround us, but Palo Alto has carved out a pothole just for our duck hunters.  No long boat rides, just a short leisurely walk on our specially designed levee system and a short walk back is all that is needed to ensure a successful hunt.  The south’s finest tradition of stately gentlemen hunting quail over accomplished dogs is one that has been preserved at Palo Alto Plantation. Our conditioned birds in combination with a true plantation setting take the most discriminating hunter back in time to the days of the old south. Our quail hunting starts in October and runs until the end of March. We offer half-day and full day packages. For years, Palo Alto’s dove hunts over its soybean fields were legendary. Regretfully, we no longer cultivate soybeans. We now plant browntop millet in these same fields and guess who is back. That’s right, enjoy the fast action that our dove hunts provide with high quality and plentiful birds. We also offer rabbit and squirrel hunts for the hunter who desires a relaxing change of pace. Guided freshwater fishing and off shore trips for saltwater species can also be arranged. he “Log Cabin” which was built in the 1960’s as a getaway for the plantation’s owners now serves as the lodge. While it contains all of today’s modern amenities, the picturesque surroundings and antique cypress woodwork provides an atmosphere of days gone by. The lodge also serves host to our fine chefs who are delighted to prepare mouth watering Cajun cuisine. Although the “Log Cabin” serves as the lodge for our hunting operation, it can also be rented for private functions. Company meetings, parties, family reunions, church retreats, or just a getaway for you and your family are all welcome. No matter what requirements you may have Palo Alto will accommodate your needs.
